Bringing Your Puppy Home

Quick Go Home Day Checklist

Your puppy’s big day is coming! Work through this checklist before go-home so you’re ready and can spend less time worrying about logistics and more time enjoying your new best friend.

  1. Access your Breeder Buddy Buyer Portal.
I will generally text you a link to your personal Buyer Portal. Your contract and important puppy information will be inside your portal. If you haven’t received your Buyer Portal link yet, please ask me for it and I’ll get it to you! Sometimes I’m human and forget things. 😂

  2. Review and sign your Puppy Purchase Agreement.
Your contract is located inside your Breeder Buddy Buyer Portal. Please review and sign it prior to your puppy’s go-home day.

  3. Read Giardia & Coccidia Explained.
Please read this before go-home so you understand these common puppy parasites and what to watch for.

  4. Schedule your Go-Home Day pickup or travel.
Make sure pickup, flight nanny or ground transportation arrangements are finalized.

  5. Set up your pawTree account and order your puppy’s food.
Follow the instructions in your Puppy & Dog Nutrition Guide to create your own pawTree account, order the food and supplements I recommend, and set up EZ Ship if desired.
Use code BOISEDOODLECO for 20% off your first order!

  6. Review your Puppy & Dog Nutrition Guide.
This explains what your puppy is currently eating, why I use pawTree, the products I personally recommend, feeding consistency, ordering instructions, EZ Ship and more.

  7. Purchase your puppy essentials.
Review my Amazon Shopping List for the crate, supplies and puppy essentials I recommend.

  8. Download and save your Go-Home Guide.
Keep it somewhere easy to find. There’s a lot of information in there that you’ll want to reference once your puppy is home.

  9. Save your puppy’s health records.
Prior to go-home, you will receive a PDF containing your puppy’s vaccine and weight history. You’ll also receive a printed copy in your go-home packet. Save the digital version and take the records with you to your veterinarian.

  10. Activate your Trupanion insurance.
    Breeder Code: BR1HH11321

  11. Choose your veterinarian and schedule your first appointment.
Have your veterinarian selected before your puppy comes home and bring the health records we provide to that first appointment.

  12. Puppy-proof your home and yard.
Check fencing, cords, plants, medications, small objects and anything else a curious puppy could chew, swallow or turn into a terrible life decision. 😂

  13. Prepare your crate and puppy space.
Have your puppy’s crate, sleeping area, food and water area, and potty routine ready before they arrive.

  14. Plan for the first 48 hours.
Keep things simple: quiet time, routine, rest, consistent food and lots of patience. Your puppy does not need to meet everyone you know on day one.

  15. Add my contact information to your phone.
Questions are going to come up. I want you to know how to reach me when they do.

  16. Order my recommended puppy-training books.
How to Raise the Perfect Dog by Cesar Millan and Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution. Links below.

  17. Follow Boise Doodle Co. on social media.
Stay connected for puppy education, training tips, updates and plenty of dog shenanigans.

  18. Take a deep breath. You’ve got this. 🤎
You don’t have to know everything on day one. Your puppy needs consistency, patience, love—and a human willing to learn them.

Welcome to the Boise Doodle Co. family. 🐾

Our Favorite Pet Nutrition

I’ve tried a lot of dog foods over the years, and pawTree continues to be my preferred choice for the puppies I raise and the dogs I love.

This isn’t simply “go-home food” that I recommend until your puppy settles in. pawTree is what I intentionally choose for my own dogs, and my hope is that you’ll continue feeding it throughout your dog’s life.

I love the quality of the nutrition, the formulas available, and most importantly, I love the results I see in my own dogs and puppies—healthy-looking coats, good body condition, consistent digestion, and puppies who grow and develop beautifully.

What Our Puppies Eat

Our puppies are typically raised on a mixture of:

• pawTree Chicken & Sweet Potato
• pawTree Salmon & Sweet Potato

Consistency is especially important when your puppy first comes home. They already have enough changes happening without changing their food too!

A Few of My Favorites

Food is the foundation, but these are some of the pawTree products I personally use and love:

• Gastro Pro Plus — Digestive and gut-health support
• Wild Alaskan Salmon & Pollock Oil — Omega fatty acids for healthy skin and coat
• Plaque Control — Easy everyday dental support
• ImmunoShroom — Supports normal immune function and overall wellness
• 10-in-1 Multivitamin — Simple daily vitamin and nutritional support
• CBD Mega — Supports relaxation during normal everyday stress

There are plenty of other pawTree products I love too, including treats, chews, freeze-dried raw food, bone broth, grooming products and some pretty fabulous products for life's inevitable dog messes. 😂

Save 20% on Your First Order 🎉

Order through my pawTree site:

You can also set up EZ Ship for recurring deliveries. You control your products, quantities and shipment schedule—and EZ Ship customers earn points toward FREE products.

And we all love FREE. 😂

Extended 5-Year Genetic Health Guarantee

Every Boise Doodle Co. puppy comes with our standard 2-year genetic health guarantee.

When the pawTree nutrition requirements outlined in your Puppy Purchase Agreement are maintained, that guarantee is extended from 2 years to 5 years.

We believe nutrition plays an important role in supporting our dogs throughout their lives, which is why I’m intentional about what I feed and what I recommend.

Want All the Details?

I’ve created a complete Boise Doodle Co. Puppy & Dog Nutrition Guide that explains exactly what I feed, the products I recommend, how to create your pawTree account, how EZ Ship works, treats, transitioning foods and more.

Please review the Nutrition Guide before your puppy comes home and place your first food order early enough that it arrives before go-home day.

My goal isn’t to hand you a giant shopping list.

It’s to show you exactly what I use, why I use it, and what I would choose for one of my own dogs.

Free Trupanion Pet Insurance!

Your puppy goes home with 30 days of FREE Trupanion pet insurance already included. This coverage starts immediately—but you must activate it to continue protection. This must be activated within 24 hours of Go-Home or you miss out. We do require this be done.

Giardia & Coccidia Explained

Giardia and Coccidia are part of raising puppies. They happen to great breeders, great owners, and great dogs. Education, transparency, and support matter far more than unrealistic guarantees.

Both are common intestinal parasites that puppies can encounter in their everyday environment. Symptoms may sometimes appear around go-home when puppies are experiencing changes in routine and environment.

They are treatable and manageable and are not automatically a reflection of poor breeding or poor care.

Please read our full Giardia & Coccidia Explained guide using the link below before go-home day. I’ll also include a printed copy in your puppy’s go-home folder.
